What I have submitted is a small collection of work that I have currently been doing on an Art and Design foundation. The first two images are of a project based on “structures”. I looked at Viktor and Rolf for inspiration and ideas, whilst also using the internet to reflect further on them. These were the base that formed my designs and samples.
The next seven images are based on the theme “fragile forms” - which I expanded to “nature”. However the focal point was mainly on birds and flowers. I chose to create most knits using fabrics rather than yarns as I believe the effect of it conveys my ideas far clearer. What I enjoyed most about this project was my crochet sampling and how I was able to explore a wide range of bright colours, techniques and materials.
The next two images are from my “Level 3 Drawing Award” qualification. I took pictures of still life, edited them slightly, printed them out and sewed into them. I also had to explore mark making – I used a range of different media, which included; bleaching, inking, drawing and using different types of paper. I also used different tools to create the marks.
Finally the last image is an example of photography work and exploration based on "Alice In Wonderland".
I am very interested in the course due to my lifelong ambition of becoming a fashion designer or boutique owner. I live more for design than I do for actually wearing it. Designers such as Viktor and Rolf, Issey Miyake and John Galliano are key examples of what I would like to achieve in the future and are also a few of the designers who give me my inspiration.
